Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!” – Isaiah 6:8
Our Intern Pastor, Madison Chelberg, has received her first call to serve as an Associate Pastor at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, Minnesota. We are all very excited for, and very proud of her.
Intern Pastor Madison began her ministry with us a year ago, and in the last 12 months has been a full partner on Trinity’s pastoral staff, sharing preaching, worship leadership, adult education, pastoral care and other responsibilities. After Pastor Dean’s departure, Madison also worked with our children, youth and family staff on creating a new “Scope and Sequence” for the ministry we do with young people.
As an intern, Madison did a fantastic job. Her preaching was excellent, her teaching was dynamic, and the relationships she developed with those she visited were wonderful.
Madison was also a great member of our staff. Everyone loved working with her. She has a great sense of humor and fit in here really well.
Intern Pastor Madison is going to be deeply missed at Trinity!
In May, Madison was awarded her Master of Divinity degree at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, and entered into the candidacy process. Last weekend, St. Olaf Lutheran in Austin voted to call her to join their pastoral team. St. Olaf is a great congregation that is doing new and innovative ministry. Madison will serve well there.
Madison and her husband, Max, will relocate to Austin this fall. They are in the “house searching” process right now.
This weekend (August 11 and 12) we will thank Madison, pray for and bless her as she leaves Trinity. There will be a reception prior to the Saturday, 5pm worship service, and then between worship services in the narthex on Sunday morning.
Please come and thank her for her wonderful ministry, and wish her well as she begins her service in Austin.
Madison’s ordination into the ELCA’s ministry of Word and Sacrament is scheduled for Saturday, September 15th at 2:00pm at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, the congregation where Madison grew up.
Please keep Pastor Madison in your prayers as she prepares to serve our good friends in Austin!
